Courses and Conferences

The Health Protection Network is a network of existing professional organisations and networks in the health protection community across Scotland. It aims to promote, sustain, and coordinate good practice. The HPN supports a systematic approach to development, appraisal and adaptation of guidelines, seeking excellence in health protection practice.

Guidelines in Practice Event II

The Health Protection Network (HPN), hosted by HPS, held its annual conference at the Perth Royal Infirmary in May 2012, where over eighty delegates from across Scotland came together for a first rate programme delivered by top UK and international speakers.

This year's theme was "management of E.coli and Legionella outbreaks", with the event offering a valuable forum for representatives from across the health protection community to share on practical experience and discuss ways ahead for improving collaboration between different professions in the field.

Guidelines in Practice Event

The Health Protection Network (HPN) held the "Guidelines In Practice" event in May 2011. The event was be based on a number of presentations covering topics in relation to past or present work supported by the HPN from a practical perspective (e.g. management of an outbreak in light of advice from guidelines).

Health Protection Network Biennial Conference

The first biennial conference was held on 8th September 2008. It addressed a wide range of activities including the collaboration of different working groups in the production and review of guidance for health protection topic areas. It also examined issues related to the effectiveness of evidence-based guidance for health protection, and facilitated a debate about this in Scotland.
