Rates of human infection by E.coli 0157 in the UK appear to be rising, with a serious outbreak in central Scotland which caused many deaths.

The Pennington Group's Expert Report and their recommendations have been fully endorsed by governement and are applicable to the meat industry, catering industry and public health services.

The report details a range of precautionary, preventive measures and proposals to help in the understanding of the organism and the management and control of outbreaks when they occur.
