Clostridium difficile Infection (CDI) is the most common healthcare associated gastrointestinal infection. Treatment with antibiotics or invasive surgical procedures, which disturb the normal intestinal flora, can lead to overgrowth of C. difficile, resulting in either asymptomatic colonisation or infection. C. difficile is transmitted via the faecal-oral route.
This CDI care bundle and the associated supporting documents, available at this site, are aimed at minimising cross-transmission in wards with high prevalence of CDI.
If you decide to implement the bundle in your ward we would like to hear from you. Please complete the Bundle Test Site Feedback form (712 KB
) and send to NSS.HPSInfectionControl@nhs.net
