16 May 2008 Local Decontamination Unit Symposium For Primary Care In Scotland

This event is being organised by Health Protection Scotland in collaboration with NHS Health Facilities Scotland (HFS), NHS Education Scotland (NES), NHS National Procurement (NP) and the Scottish Government Health Directorate (SGHD).

The symposium will provide an update on a range of initiatives to support the planning, development and activity of local decontamination units including:

  • Launch of the HFS Scottish Health Planning Note 13 Part 2 Decontamination Facilities: Local Decontamination Units
  • Launch of the NES/HPS Decontamination Programme - Education and Training for Primary Care
  • Update on the MEK005 national contract for small steam sterilizers, washer disinfectors and ultrasonic cleaners

The event programme will also include updates from the Chief Dental Officer and SGHD Senior Medical Officer. There will be presentations on technical requirements and the underpinning guidance, option appraisal, capacity planning and testing and maintenance of decontamination equipment as well as information on a web based programme intended to provide operators with procedures and work instructions to help ensure safe working practices.

Please note that there is no delegate fee for this event and that lunch and refreshments will be provided. 

The venue for the event is the Radisson which is located at 301 Argyle Street in the heart of Glasgow and is easily accessible by both road and public transport.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of Glasgow Central and Queen Street stations. Car parking is available at the Oswald Street NCP, adjacent to the venue. A reduced rate of £5.00 for 24 hours is available for delegates, obtainable by having your car park ticket validated at the concierge desk within the venue.
