10 Jul 2014 Revised Pseudomonas guidance now available

Health Facilities Scotland, Health Protection Scotland and Water (Scotland) Group have updated ‘Guidance for neonatal units (NNUs) (levels 1, 2 & 3) adult and paediatric intensive care units (ICUs) in Scotland to minimise the risk of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection from water’.

Key changes from the previous version are:

  • Inclusion of a new recommendation on high-risk procedures.
  • Revisions to section 1 (Critical Control Point 1: The hospital water delivery system).
  • The inclusion of an additional appendix (Appendix 5: Key Steps of a Water Safety Plan (WSP) for  Healthcare Facility).
