Information Governance
Information Governance is the framework under which the NHS handles
information about patients and employees - in particular personal
and sensitive information. It allows both organisations and individuals
to ensure that files and records are dealt with legally, securely,
efficiently and effectively, in order to deliver the best possible
care.
The Information Governance Knowledge Portal replaced
other NHSScotland Information Governance related websites, and is
a single location for everyone, including patients and the public,
to learn about Information Governance in NHSScotland.
In order to comply with current legislation on Protecting Personal
Health Information, HPS has produced an information guide for patients
whose personal data HPS may process. This is available below together with a link to the current note that
appeared in the SCIEH Weekly Report when this leaflet was first published.
