Register as a New Centre

Background to Registration Process
The Scottish Government designated responsibility for the programme of registration
and administration of Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres (YFVCs) in Scotland to HPS
in December 2006. The aim of the programme is to ensure the quality and safety of
the procedures and materials employed and improve standards of practice within these
centres.
Yellow fever vaccine may only be administered by designated centres in the UK and
only centres registered with HPS will have access to supplies of yellow fever vaccine
in Scotland. In addition, HPS will only supply yellow fever certificates (the International
Certificate of Vaccination and Prophylaxis) to Scottish centres designated by them.
There is a registration fee of £65.00 (+ vat where appropriate) for all YFVCs in Scotland. The fee will be due every two years at the time of re-registration.
Registration Process
Newly applying centres wishing to become registered will need to attend training before their application can be fully processed.
In order to apply for designation as a YFVC in Scotland, the registered medical
practitioner responsible for the centre needs to complete the application form and
agree and sign the Conditions of Registration for Designation. They must also read
the information pack.

YFVC Unique Identification Number
Once a centre is designated by HPS they will receive a certificate confirming this
and a unique identification number. This replaces any previous number allocated
by the Scottish Government (formerly the Scottish Executive). This number should be quoted in all correspondence with
HPS and should be incorporated into the official stamp used by the centre for yellow
fever certificates (the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis).
Centres ordering a stamp should wait until they have been allocated a unique identification
number from HPS before doing so. More details can be found in the information pack (281 KB
).
De-Designation Of Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres
HPS also has the power to de-designate those YFVCs who fail to maintain the required standards. The legislative authority for HPS to do this on behalf of the Scottish Government falls under section 10 (4) of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978 and specifically the National Health Service (Functions of the Common Services Agency) (Scotland) Amendment (No 2) Order 2006 SS1/206/603.
