Air Pollution and Health Briefing Note. Mortality Associated with exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5 Attributable Mortality) in Scotland
Publication Date: 18 June 2018
In 2014, HPS published a briefing note 'Air Quality (PM2.5 particulate air pollution) and Mortality in Scotland'. This provided information on the sources and levels of anthropogenic (manmade) air pollution in Scotland.
It also described the estimated impact of exposure to manmade fine particulate matter (PM2.5), much of which is derived from road transport vehicles.
This briefing provides an update to that briefing note with more recent data, up to 2016, for both PM2.5 levels and for estimated excess attributable mortality at both Scotland and individual local authority level.
