Ebola: Viral Haemorrhagic Fever (VHF) Infection Prevention and Control Precautions Summary for the Hospital Setting
Publication Date: 09 December 2016
Based on the Dept. of Health / HSE, 2014 VHF Guidance
- All blood and body fluids from all patients should be considered potentially contaminated.
- Risk assess all patients on admission: Fever and Travel history then categorise as per the VHF Risk Assessment algorithm.
- Engage with Scottish Ambulance Service early if an inter-hospital transfer is planned (this will reduce delays in transfer; it can take considerable time to prepare an ambulance).
