This document outlines the method that the Scottish Health Protection Network (SHPN) applies to develop health protection guidance that is based, primarily, on good practice recommendations.

It is accepted that these recommendations are determined from colloquial evidence (particularly, expert opinion) and other types of non-scientific evidence.
