Quality improvement tools

Quality improvement tools provide short practice points which when followed correctly can help reduce HAIs and improve patient safety.

These quality improvement tools are based on scientific literature reviews and practice recommendations from ARHAI Scotland. 

Materials including posters are available for the following procedures/situations:

Taking a sample for blood culture

 

Inserting and maintaining a urinary catheter (UC)

Acute Settings
Community Settings

Inserting and maintaining a central vascular catheter (CVC)

Neonatal settings 
Paediatric settings
Adult settings

 

Inserting and maintaining a peripheral vascular catheter (PVC)

 

Person with a known or suspected CDI

 

Patient needing a surgical procedure
